Everest Gokyo Lake Trek offers excellent and rewarding views of Mount Everest in an adjacent range including lovely valleys, lush rivers and friendly people in quaint villages. From Gokyo village, you can see clearly Mount Everest from a slightly greater distance.

The views in the Everest Gokyo region are tremendous. During this trip, you will observe the romantic villages of stone houses and walled pastures on the shores of Gokyo Lake. It offers you the chance to observe the local people's way of life and also you may encounter yaks.

While trekking to Gokyo Lake you will be astounded by the ice ridge between Cho Oyu and Gyachung located in Khumbu region. Everest Gokyo Lake trek provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyanchung Kang, Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholaste and Tawachee.

Besides the natural beauty, Gokyo Lake trek offers you greater insights of local ethnic Sherpa People, their living style, custom, and culture, who have made this region home for decades. Sherpa people respect the mountains as their god where hundreds of Sherpas have lost their life during expeditions. Outline Itinerary of Everest Gokyo Lake Trek

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.
  • Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.
  • Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.
  • Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.
  • Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110m - 06 hrs.
  • Day 06: Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs.
  • Day 07: Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs.
  • Day 08: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357m and trek to Na 4,450m - 03 hrs.
  • Day 09: Trek to Phortse 3,800 meters – 04 hrs.
  • Day 10: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m via Pangboche- 05 hrs.
  • Day 11: Trek to Trek to Monjo 2,820 m - 06 hrs.
  • Day 12: Trek back to Lukla - 07 hrs.
  • Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.
  • Day 14: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.
  • Day 15: International departure homeward bound.

 Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel.

On arrival at Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by our staff with warm welcome and transfer to respective hotels with briefing Gokyo Lake & Everest Panorama trek, hotels, lodge on route with do and don’ts with evening group welcome dinner.

Day 02: Fly to Lukla 2,830 m & trek to Phakding 2,640 m - 04 hrs.

Mornings, flight to Lukla with views of mountain range, after 30 mins of great flight reaching Lukla, with short break trek towards Phakding village for overnight stop through farm villages, a moderate walk with few short ups overlooking beautiful scenery along the route to Phakding located by Dudh Kosi river.

Day 03: Trek to Namche Bazaar 3,440 m - 05 hrs.

After a pleasant overnight at Namche, walk continues crossing several bridges above Dudh Kosi River and into villages of Toc-Toc, Bhenkar and Monjo arriving at Sagarmatha National Park entrance, here onwards with an uphill walk to Namche Bazaar, at Namche with facilities of good restaurant, pubs, cyber café, post office, and banks.

Day 04: Rest day at Namche Bazaar for acclimatization and excursion.

An ideal spot for rest day with acclimatization before heading to Thyangboche Monastery which higher than Namche, take a short hike to Everest View Hotel or walk up to Namche hill top for views of Everest, Amadablam and adjoining peaks, visit the museum.

Day 05: Trek to Dole 4,110m - 06 hrs.

First hour with easy to Kyangima near Shanasa, chances of seeing some wildlife colorful Danphe pheasant (Impeyan Pheasant) National bird of Nepal and musk deer, and sometime Himalayan Thar (mountain goat). From here our route diverts towards north with a slow climb to the ridge at Mong 3,973 meters. After Mong descend to Dudh Kosi at Phortse Thanghka, from here continue walk uphill to Dole through rhododendron forest and then fades to juniper and conifers trees, at Dole for overnight stop with view of Khumbila and Tawache peaks.

Day 06: Trek to Machherma 4,470m-04 hrs.

After Dole, walk the valley on a level trail for an hour to Lhabarma Kharka at 4,325 m and to Luza at 4,390m; then skirting around the ridge line with first glimpse of Machherma, located below a small valley, finally reaching at Machherma for lunch and overnight stop after a good scenic walk, afternoon free for acclimatization for short hike for views of Mt. Cho Oyo 8,210m and all the mountains that flank the Ngozumba Glacier.

Day 07: Trek to Gokyo 4,800m -04 hrs.

Morning walk leads to Gokyo Lake following a scenic trail to Pangka 4,545m, then climbing a rocky path into ablation valley passing the first lake and second lake, then reaching third lake called Dudh Pokhari or Gokyo Lake. Bank of the Lake a summer settlement of Gokyo at 4,790 meters, after lunch a shirt walk of the lake with view of Mt. Cho Oyo world’s 06th highest, and Gyachung Kang with reflection on emerald Gokyo Lake.

Day 08: At Gokyo hike to Gokyo-Ri 5,357m and trek to Na 4,450m - 03 hrs.

Morning hike to Gokyo Ri 5,357m, offers panorama of world’s highest peaks from Mt. Cho Oyo, Gyachung Kang, Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Cholatse, Taweche and to the east rises Mt. Makalu. After a mesmerizing time at Gokyo Ri descend to Gokyo for lunch and then a short walk to Na or further beneath Ngozumba Glacier with rest of the afternoon free at leisure to enjoy the surrounding views.

Day 09: Trek to Phortse 3,800 meters – 04 hrs.

From here on a quiet trail to Phortse above Dudh Kosi River, walk leads on gradual winding downhill path to a sleepy village at Phortse, seldom visited by other trekkers on this route to this village.

Day 10: Trek to Thyangboche 3,867m via Pangboche- 05 hrs.

After Phortse walk leads on the less trekked route to upper Pangboche village near the old monastery after few hours of interesting trek, from here on the downhill trail to the bridge over Imjatse River. After the bridge back into tree lines and lush vegetation of rhododendron, oaks, birch and pine trees, as the walk climb for an hour or more to reach at beautiful spot at Thyangboche monastery. A nice scenic place surrounded with peaks including views of Mt. Everest and Amadablam, here visit the interesting monastery.

Day 11: Trek to Trek to Monjo 2,820 m - 06 hrs.

Morning after catching the views of Everest and adjoining peaks downhill walk with climb for an hour and then on level winding trail to Namche Bazaar, from retrace the walk back to Monjo for the overnight stop near Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 12: Trek back to Lukla - 07 hrs.

Retrace journey back to Lukla a pleasant last day walk enjoy the surrounding scenery as the trail leads to Lukla, a short uphill climb brings you back to Lukla for last overnight stop around Khumbu and Everest.

Day 13: Fly back to Kathmandu and transfer to respective hotels.

From Lukla taking an early morning scenic flight back to Kathmandu with overwhelming views of mountains from the plane after landing at Kathmandu domestic airport, our staff transfers you back to hotel around Thamel area with rest of the day free at leisure.

Day 14: In Kathmandu free day with sightseeing tour.

A spare day in Kathmandu in case of flight delay and cancellation due to unfavorable bad weather which might occur, as the Himalayan weather can be unpredictable sometimes if all goes well have a free day or sightseeing tour of Kathmandu-Patan and Bhaktapur.

Day 15: International departure homeward bound.

Today, your last day in amazing Nepal with great experience and fond memories of Gokyo Lake & Everest Panorama trekking, as per your time for international flight, our staff transfer you to airport for your final departure homeward bound or to your next destinations.

  • Meals per day during the trek (breakfast, lunch & dinner) including the coffee and  tea.
